District Manager - Central Area of WI


Summary of Position:
To consult, supervise, direct and manage all phases of the assigned stores in a manner designed to obtain maximum sales and margins; control labor, utility and other operating expenses; and ensure that the stores meet targeted projections and goals through the effective utilization of personnel and resources available according to company policies and procedures.
Responsibilities:

  • Observe and maintain all store rules and company policies in assigned stores are followed. When applicable or if necessary, suggest, submit or implement changes/additions to such policies in accordance with the guidelines in the company operations manual to correct deficiencies or to address problem areas that may not be adequately covered by existing policies or procedures
  • Observe and maintain company grooming standards and dress regulations; maintain a neat, well-groomed personal appearance at all times to set an example for others to follow
  • Implement and adhere to all local, state and federal health and civil code regulations including full compliance with all applicable laws pertaining to safety, health and packaging requirements in all assigned stores
  • Responsible to make sure that all assigned stores are compliant with all state, county and local weights, measure laws, and labeling requirements are followed in all departments
  • Responsible for the overall operations, direction, coordination, and evaluation of the stores in the assigned area
  • Responsible to review all financials, highlight weak areas, develop, implement, and ensure an action plan
  • Responsible to assist Retail Operations in the development, execution, and maintenance of a store specific Operations performance action plan
  • Responsible for developing, promoting, interviewing, hiring, and training new store managers/owners, and department managers in assigned stores; planning, assigning, and directing work and responsibilities; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems
  • Responsible for the subordinate supervisors and/or specialists who supervise the stores and employees within the assigned area
  • Responsible to consult, assist and supervise new store set-up, remodeling, additions, and resets
  • Responsible to assist as a liaison with all wholesale and support departments, if needed; Responsible to schedule district team meetings, promotional sale days, and other events and assist if needed/required
  • Responsible for the execution and control of gross profit performance, payroll budgeting, payroll % through labor scheduling, shrink, supply costs, price checks, cutting tests, training responsibilities, and all required merchandising according to Company policies and procedures
  • Responsible to council store owners/managers/department managers on store operational procedures, community participation and activities
  • Direct and ensure that all store personnel are courteous to customers and that requests, refunds and complaints are handled promptly and courteously in all assigned stores
  • Monitor and maintain effective and objective decisions regarding operational choices in work procedures, inventory allocations, new product purchases, merchandising, scheduling, and other situations where multiple factors must be considered and weighed to maximize operating results according to company policies and procedures;
  • Responsible for ensuring that all personnel contribute to the control of excessive use of utilities and water and that all employees participate in sound conservation practices; Consult and direct special projects as assigned
  • Five and Six day work week is required with weekend rotation
  • Travel is required
  • Other duties as required

Minimum Requirements:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field

Must be at least 18

  • Professional Licenses / Certifications: No Licenses or Certifications Requested
  • Vehicle: Required, Mileage Reimbursement Program Available
  • Driver’s License Requested
  • Experience / Qualifications:
  • Leadership and decision-making ability
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills. Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Analytical mindset and problem-solving skill.
  • Working knowledge of operation of powered industrial equipment preferred
  • Retail management experience
  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds on rare occasions
  • Ability to be on feet for extended periods of time
