At piggly wiggly we understand the challenges in maintaining a gluten free lifestyle. Having Celiac myself, I know ingredients can be hard to find, items that seem safe can harbor hidden gluten, and some gluten free items are as edible as cardboard. Therefore, in an effort to make your shopping experience (and eating!) more enjoyable, the search to find the best gluten free foods began. Manufacturers from across the country submitted hundreds of samples. Some were okay, some were awful, and a select few were so great I had to double check the label to make sure it really was gluten free! These items I enjoy so much myself, I wanted to share them with you. Hopefully it will take some of the uncertainty out of wondering if a new item is worth trying. If you know of a new item, or would like to submit feedback, I would be happy to hear from you. Simply email me at HealthyPig@shopthepig.com.

In Fall of 2015, Wisconsin and Illinois Piggly Wiggly stores are getting NEW and IMPROVED gluten free sets with lots of new items! Check you local store!
Amy’s Frozen Enchilada Meals – This is one of my favorite fast meals. If you don’t feel like Mexican, Amy’s also makes a great non-dairy mac and cheese, along with frozen pizza, and numerous other varieties.
Love Grown Granola – is the perfect addition to your favorite yogurt which is a great healthy snack. I personally love that they use only honey and agave to sweeten their products. If that’s not enough to spark your interest, check out the I Can’t Believe It’s Gluten Free price.
Multi-Grain Cheerios – that’s right the Cheerios line is going gluten free! Check to make sure your local Pig has sold out of the old stock and look for the gluten free symbol on the front of the box.
I predict these will be everyone’s new favorite. Not only because they are the best pretzels I’ve ever had but, they are also the most affordable gluten free pretzel. Score times 2!
Nugo Dark Chocolate Granola Bars
Low in sugar and calories, high in protein and flavor, but doesn’t taste like a protein bar! I always have a stash of these to grab when I’m running out the door.
Tyson Breaded Chicken Strips
I like mine over a salad with ranch or thousand island dressing.
Kinnikinnick Freezer Breads
Freezer Bread, muffins, hot-dog buns- remember to check out the gluten free frozen sections. I particularly love the Kinnikinnick bread over anything you would find in a vacuum sealed bag.
Pamela’s Honey Graham Crackers
Forget the old gluten free so hard they break your teeth Graham’s! Big or small, Pamela’s gluten free chocolate graham crackers are my favorite nighttime snack, and make great s’mores too! Also in honey and cinnamon.
Betty Crocker Cake Mixes and “The Cake DR. Bakes Gluten Free.”
I am amazed at how just a few tweaks to any cake mix can make my cake go from “blah cake mix” to “I can’t believe it’s not from scratch!
RP’s Gluten Free Pasta
This award-winning fresh gluten-free pasta recipe utilizes brown rice flour as the primary ingredient. The certified fresh gluten free pasta has the same al’dente texture as RP’s traditional pasta. Nobody can believe it’s gluten free!
Ancient Harvest Quinoa Pasta and Tinkyada Brown Rice Pasta both have passed the taste test from my kids. No complaints from them equals success.
